The big problem here is how to deliver the message. There is a real risk that it will be interpreted as "I can't smoke while breastfeeding - so I won't even start breastfeeding". Educated mothers will likely pick up the right message, but the groups who have taken up smoking in large numbers, poorly educated, low-income, very young mothers, may take the message the above way - especially if the media carries a story on it and goes for the usual sensational headlines.
The message needs to be clearly presented that BF + NO smoking is the best course, but that BF + smoking (done away from the baby) is better than artificial feeding + smoking.
