Dear Lactnet:

May I highly recommend two essays from a book that I have been reading for an
art philosophy reading group in which I participate: Women: An Intimate
Geography by Natalie Angier. I believe it was published in the US in the
last year or so. We have been reading two essays about breasts. In the
first, Angier questions why human breasts are so many sizes and shapes since
size and shape have little to do with successful lactation, and the second is
a broader discussion about breasts as symbols of beauty. Very interesting:
not always easy to agree with, but neither easy to dismiss.

Art, life, breastfeeding, life, art: it's all one.
