I have not seen the practice of binding breasts in our area in 20 years.
Prior to that time, it was common practice. What I saw then was a lot of
plugged ducts, breast infections. The binding did not help but created
problems. The best remedy is cabbage leaves with occasional warm soaks
to relieve pressure. There is a pamphlet Breast Care for the
Bottlefeeding Mother that reviewed warm soaks. Hope you can convince
those doing the binding to stop this very outdated procedure.
