I heard that news report. Apparently there is an Austrian study which
looked at 35,000 children aged between 6 & 9 and they determined that
there was no difference in asthma incidence between children who had
been breastfed or not. (I think they said that they were looking at
asthma and cancer but they didn't go into the cancer bit much at all).
They also said that breastfed babies have more excema. And there was
the usual 'mustn't make women feel guilty if they don't breastfeed'
thingy. At the end of the report they did have a paediatrician say that
breastfeeding was best and they would still encourage it, but the
overall tone of the piece was not positive at all.
