The idea of the Tummy Tub came from some Amsterdam midwifes who are very
active in finding and spreading ways to have natural birth in a modern way
(vertical birthing, water birthing, etc.) In fact it is possible to use any
kind of bucket that can be cleaned and is big enough to have baby in it in a
vertical foetus-like position with room to stretch his legs if wanted. Nice
about the Tummy Tub is that the baby can be observed while bathing and it
has soft edges. It turns out that baby's do like to bathed uipright instead
of lying on ther back. Perhaps that has to do with the feeling to be in
control of the situation.like in giving birth vertically vs horizontally?
