hi sharon :) thanks for your questions. this mom is more than willing to
watch her baby for true cues of needing food (though she, like me, finds
that many of the items on the usual list of cues may be suspect and be a
product of our culture rather than true biological readiness). she had some
scary situations with her older child's food allergies and has had to cut
several foods out of her own diet due to the baby's sensitivity to them. so
far her baby has shown no interest in eating that couldn't be solved with an
empty bowl and a spoon, or a couple of "mouth toys" (a la george wootan).
she just wants some solid information on the possibility of continuing to
provide optimal nutrition for her older child through a pregnancy.

speaking from a nutritional standpoint alone, though, breastmilk remains
optimal nutrtion for as long as the child nurses, correct?
