Check the article in JHL of June 1996 on dehydration and all that. The
electrolytes are another example of worrying about numbers instead of
worrying about the the real issue. Get the baby feeding. That will do the
trick. Prevent brain damage? Rubbish, if you look at a study done in
Tristate area of Kentucky, etc. where all babies were admitted to the
hospital for dehydration and hypernatremia, 15% of them had seizures and/or
brain damage despite careful IV fluid management.
Feed the baby, as Linda Smith says!
