Dear President Coleman:
I misquoted you on LACTNET. You did not say "Since not all mothers
breastfeed, it is okay for ICEA to advertise bottles and teats."
You responded to my letter of concern about ICEA endorsing materials
advertising bottles and teats in violation of the WHO Code with a long
letter. In it you wrote, "Yes, we do truly represent freedom of choice
through knowledge of alternatives, as we do promote breastfeeding as the
preferred infant feeding method, but as a childbirth education organization,
not a breastfeeding organization, we also must support mothers who choose not
to or are unable to breastfeed their infants."
It seemed to me that what you were saying was that it was okay to
advertise bottles and teats in ICEA endorsed materials.
I apologize, again.
