The best strategy for getting rid of a nipple shield is not to use it at
all. I am appalled by the ease with which so many people start the nipple
shield. Anyone who suggests the nipple shield before the "milk comes in"
should rethink their strategy.

It is not inevitable that the milk supply becomes inadequate with the use of
the nipple shield. It decreases but many women have so much milk that a
decrease is of no importance.

The nipple shield is an "easy answer" just as formula is. I'm not saying it
should never be used, but starting it in hospital?????????????
