Hi,

I am a long time lurker, first time to post. Seeking your collective
experience here.

I have been scheduled tomorrow to see a full term newborn in NICU, with
Pierre Robin's Syndrome, soft palate cleff. It is my understanding that the
lower jaw is very recessed. Initially had decreasing saturation levels when
attempting to "bottle feed" and NICU MD's refused to allow mom to attempt
breast feeding. However, now with habermann, baby is tolerating feeds. We
expect that this motovated, experienced mother will get her first chance at
breastfeeding her baby tomorrow if baby continues to do well.

Question:
Positions, I am thinking that sitting the baby upright will be best, but
have never seen this baby, or worked with one with this syndrome.

Have any of you worked with this? I will be grateful for any tips,
suggestions, or advice you can give me.

Thank You!

Veronica Carter RNC, IBCLC
