Other reasons for not using plastic bags to store breastmilk, especially for the premature infant. For the term infant, I know mothers in the past have used these bags, but we now know that they are not the best type of container to use.
Titers of secretory IgA antibody specific for E. coli polysaccharides is decreased by 60%, some vitamins are lost, and a considerable amount of fat is lost to the polyethylene surface of bags.( Riordan and Auerback, page 791. Reference is:
