What a sad commentary! Unfortunately, there will be those who zero
in on the fact that she was "breastfeeding" rather than the fact
that mom ignored the doctor's concern and request to follow-up with
baby.
As with the case a number of months ago where a mom was charged with
murder (or manslaughter, don't remember for sure) there are many
other underlying factors here including, but not limited to: mom's
distrust of the "system", less than ideal dynamics between the
parents, etc. None of these relate to the breastfeeding per se and
would have been present regardless of how baby was fed.
Won't it be a great day when such stories are related without
emphasis on the feeding method (even better of course if they didn't
happen in the first place). I wonder if it would have hit the press
if a bottle feeding baby had been starved?
