i have been using tablespoon as an estimate, just seemed like a good guess
based on experience. let me know if your coworker knows of some research on
which this estimate is based.

good points. to assess urine color: i've suggested to parents that they put a
cotton ball in the diaper where they think the baby will urinate on it, then
squeeze the cotton ball out into a clear glass to assess the color of the
urine.

A few years ago I developed BF eval with sections on feedings, position,
suck, milk flow, intake, output, and weight status, to use as a *concise*
teaching tool outline and eval guideline for expectant and new parents. The
original was in JHL. I think it might even pass Pat's KISS rule ;-) We use
and give this eval to all our bf moms and i do appreciate all the input and
suggestions as i work on the latest revision of the output and weight status
sections.
