Wendey, Thank you so much for sharing your story. It was a timely
reminder. It is for women like you that I am an LC. Too many women
feel devastated by their "failure" to breastfeed, when in fact it is
the *system* that has failed them. Their feelings of disappointment
and inadequacy are not easy to share, after all, what's all the fuss
about - formula is just as good isn't it? :-) Fortunately my
personal breastfeeding experience was great - I really wish more
women could be empowered by a positive experience.
I agree with Heather and others - our practice needs to be built on
evidence and not personal experience, but it is interesting to see
what motivates us to do what we do!
