I know that at our last Mothers Milk Bank at Austin board meeting, one of
our directors, who also heads the Central Texas Blood Bank, told us that the
blood banks now must querry on their screening intake about anyone who lived
in the UK for an extended period of time due to fear of transmission of CJD,
and that that is grounds for elimination as a blood donor. He was sad about
this as still has concerns about the data this is based on, but suggested we
be in line with that policy in terms of screening for milk donors.
