A mom has posed the following question to me:
"My one-year old son has chosen to nurse off my right breast only. My left
breast has gotten a lot smaller and my right breast has taken over
beautifully. My son will not latch onto the left one. In the past he
would nurse a little and then turn away. I recently expressed some milk
and it is very sour (salty). The right breast's milk is sweet. I have
had a lump in my left breast for years and had it seen by many doctors and
mammogram and they say it is nothing to worry about (fibroid). Is
there a connection? Is the milk sour because it is "old"? Have you ever
heard of this before? I am concerned. Also, Ishould add he has only
nursed from the right breast for about six months now and I am 33 years
old."
I did a search of the archives which came up with only 7 replies that were
not really helpful, I read in Lawrence the the salt content in milk goes up
during weaning..... what else could be going on here?
thanks!
