Hi Lactnetters,
I'll just add two points to Barbara Wilson-Clay's useful suggestions
for accessing journal articles on breastfeeding and human lactation:
1) Medical libraries usually have computer access to a range of databases,
such as Medline (Medical) and CINAHL (nursing and related areas). These and
other databases will be accessible if your library has SilverPlatter. When
you are searching a topic, for the years required, the computer will
probably include in its listing a note to say if the journal is not held in
that library. If it is held there, you can then search teh book stacks for
that issue of the journal.
2) Abstracts, whether on the internet or elsewhere, are not always an
accurate indication of content and findings, according to a recent survey of
some of the more prestigious journals. They may omit important points, or
have a figure which differs from that in the body of the article. So it is
good sense to order the full article, rather than just to go on what is in
the abstract.
     Happy searching!
