Jean,
If this is a mixed up terminology it is a widespread one. Fibro-cystic
Breast disease is very common. I personally had a fibroid cyst the size
of a silver dollar removed from one of my breasts. The OB/GYN called it
that, the surgeon called it that, and I have met many other women who
have the same "condition".
I also believe this "condition" is easier to diagnose with Sonogram
technology than Mammogram. However, I was sent for a Mommo first, then
the Sono confirmation.
Although all the Docs thought it was fibrous, I did hear all the scary
what-if scenarios before the surgery...which was scheduled very
quickly...within 5 days of the Sonogram.
