Greetings,
I missed the original question re: fasting, but know from personal
experience, as well as professionally, mothers can fast and breastfeed
without problems with milk supply or toxin concerns. I have fasted during
the Islamic month of Ramadan and have worked with countless moms who have
also observed this fast with no adverse side effects.

It is important to hydrate the body throughout the evening when the fast is
broken. Another useful strategy to ensure no difficulties, is to eat a
pre-dawn meal, which is also part of the Islamic tradition.

FYI, this is still the month of Ramadan, and many breastfeeding moms are
still fasting. The month will end around January 8th, 2000, with the
sighting of the next new moon.

Peace and Blessings to All.
EID MUBARAK!!!
