A popular hobby here in Canada is homebrewing beer from kits.
These consist of a can of malt extract, yeast and instructions.
Usually the instructions call for the addition of 2 kilos of sugar.
However honey works very well and the finished beer is very palatable.
I use an hydrometer to adjust the potential alcohol to my liking ( 5 - 6%)
The best kits I have found are from Australia - Coopers.
Their STOUT - a dark beer- is very good.
