As I sit watching the snow fly, I'm contemplating painting my hives and
supers. One goal is to better camouflage my hives from neighbors in a
suburban setting. I understand that there have been some studies pointing to
improved mite control with higher internal temperatures gained from darker
hive color. How dark a color is necessary for mite control? Is there any
benefit to medium tan or medium green? Any concerns with medium greens or
tans and summer temperatures in the Midwest US?
