I saw a presentation once of a researcher who studied them in Africa, where
they commonly breed in a local fruit.  Dr Peter Teal tested all sorts of
fruit scents, and found SHB in the U.S. were strongly attracted to the
scent of pears.

I can't remember who, but I also saw a presentation in which they had been
found breeding in fallen fruit in Florida.
