B Farmer stated: > FIFRA has never been enacted as positive law, > and is so narrow in its scope and application that > folks would be hard pressed to find any > substantive measure of it protecting honeybees. > FIFRA doesn't even apply to any of the 50 states. > It is limited to what common folks call "federal zone". The EPA would beg to differ: www.epa.gov/enforcement/waste/documents/policies/fifra-erp1209.pdf Now, it must be admitted that during the periods 1989-1993, and again from 2000-2008, the EPA was more likely to approve oil drilling in the beekeeper's beeyard than to actually enforce any laws protecting bees, but let's not blame the EPA for not openly defying the dully-elected administration's policy stances. Civil and criminal penalties are common, and states DO enforce FIFRA. In fact, it is the state that would enforce the penalties against a farmer who sprayed your beehives, rather than the feds. *********************************************** The BEE-L mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software.
