Hi Allen > At one point, researchers, for various reasons investigated the idea of > making bees larger. > > AFAIK, nobody has properly investigated making bees *smaller*. Work was done both upwards and downwards, by a loose group of non-scientist beekeepers led by Beo Cooper who was a Government entomologist working in UK Midlands. This work was done in the early 1960s and as far as I can find out all of the original participants are now deceased. There does exist a stack of information that comprises the body of the work of Beo Cooper much of which was about bees, but that is two filing cabinets full of disparate papers and notes that are as disorganised as my own filing cabinets. The gentleman that holds the papers is somewhat reclusive, but I hope at some time in the future to assemble a small team of individuals to comb through that information in order that items of importance can be made available to a wider audience.
