Peter said: I have been involved in extensive formic acid trials at a university over the past 3 years, involving hundreds of hives. Can you comment on results and observations? We used a fiber board pad soaked with formic, placed above the frames inside a one inch deep rim. The cover and rim is duct taped in place to keep the fumes from escaping. Sounds like the Medhat N. method? Am I correct in guessing so ? Taping the top is OK but what did you do to prevent the fumes (heavier than air ) from flowing out the front entrance? In my humble opinion fumes dropping and flowing out the front entrance is one reason many times treatments fail. Peter said: But it is up to the bee industry to get formic on the market. I don't know what the status of that effort is these days. As soon as bee equipment suppliers can figure a way to make money on sale to beekeepers movement should happen fast.
