Evolution will solve this problem Peter. I assure you. The honeybee was able to overcome the wax moth back in the mid 1800's and they will overcome varroa and SHB. They still make honey crops and have not changed that significantly as a species. That is where animal husbandry comes in.... Produce a bee that survives, then over time breed for em to make more honey. Look at what Tim Ives is doing in northern Indiana. You are probably not going to get a solution for this problem at Wal-Mart.

We sound like children when we say things like, I WILL ONLY DO THIS IF I CAN DO IT MY WAY..... Doing things our way without thinking about the repercussions is why varroa and SHB are in this country..... I will continue to keep bees regardless.... I didn't get into beekeeping to get rich and that seems to be working out just fine.

I say bring on those more virulent mites. Exposure to them will only make my colonies stronger over time.
