The intent to counter negative information by a corporation and the
objections to imperfect studies finding negative information on a
product are often linked into a complicated accusation of conspiracy.
The two are not necessarily directly linked in reality, but are often
interpreted as evidence of collusion.  The first is a predictable
reaction by individuals paid to protect the bottom line.  The second is
part of the imperfect process of science and inquiry.  As part of that
process, there are checks and balances to limit the publication of
falsehoods or grossly incorrect interpretations.  Ultimately there is
the inevitable passage of time, the crucible in which the truth is
inevitably distilled, whether it takes years, decades or centuries.
