I've spent a good amount of time of late looking out the windows of
jetliners as I crisscross the continent.  Two things impress me with regard
to bees:

1.  How thoroughly humans have terraformed the Midwest, eliminating bee
habitat, and

2.  How much wild land there still is on the continent to act as a reservoir
for bees little affected by human influence.
