We never had a problem, but fire or scalding are always concerns when 
working with a vat of hot, smoking wax.

In my day, I have breathed a lot of wax, both candle-making when that was my 
livelihood, and later processing wax and dipping pallets.  I'm 64 now and so 
far, so good, not that I am recommending breathing wax.  I just never 
figured I would live this long.
