No, I was not being sarcastic.  I was being facetious.

However, if anyone questions my seriousness, I would most definitely encourage them to use petroleum distillates.  (We need to quit molly coddling folks.  If they don't have common sense, they deserve to do stupid things.)

I would also like to remind you that using flammable petroleum distillates IS a USDA approved method for killing varroa mites.  Alcohol washes and ether rolls ARE very effective at killing varroa mites.
