Here in the UK these colonies are frequently used in 'Spanish tunnels', i.e. 
polytunnels open  at both ends and with ventilated sides, so no possibility 
of preventing the bees (now mainly of Turkish origin I understand) from 
colonising the surrounding countryside.  Madness?
