When I move hives from NY to SC, soon after the pallets of hives are set down on the ground queens will start to lay. Seems like maybe what stimulates the resumption of brood rearing may be that thump that happens when the Earth starts off into a new year. Something I'm sure most of y'all don't notice.

That's sarcasm by the way, in case you missed it.

All the speculation has been interesting to read. I have been stimulated by the gravitational pull/physics talk to resist the pull of my recliner and get some honey packed. Y'all keep up the discussion. I have learned some things.
