The Australian effort at developing a diagnostic SNP panel for rapid
and inexpensive identification of Africanized bees is based on initial
work in Canada looking at worldwide populations of honey bees.  It is
my understanding that the Australian objective is for identification of
interceptions at ports, and eventually, if deemed necessary, to screen
possible importations of varroa resistant bees for Africanization.
