Aaron,  I just bought mine so haven't used it yet. (end of season purchase)
but if you look on you tube you can see Mike Palmers video of his honey
house.  The one I got is the same type,  radiant heat at the top so the
floating wax is exposed to the heat,  the honey sinks and stays much cooler.

The down side is I have been informed the "radiant heat" style is a fire
hazard....   

My yard is about the same as yours, and I use a silver queen also right now.
