Thanks Jerry.  But you never answered my question:

In support of your hypothesis, in order to fulfill Koch's postulates, you'd
need to induce viral disease in healthy bees by exposing them to comb
components.  This would be easy to test in a cage trial by placing pieces
of test or control combs into the cages, and then tracking bee mortality.
