Because the queen breeders have selected for tracheal mite resistance, and
this seems to be a trait that nearly everyone can keep in their lines
reliably.
I'll still sample some bees, and thereby check each batch of queens, but if
I found tracheal mite susceptibility, I'd have a quiet talk with the guy who
sold me those queens.
Tracheal mite resistance is right up there with 4 wings, two antenna, and 6
legs.  Basic requirements.
