I understand that Kashmir Bee Virus is very similar to Acute Paralysis Virus.
The latter is widespread and endemic in the UK but was unnoticed and very
rarely a problem until Varroa came along. In the presence of varroa the virus
is lethal. It is speculated that the virus is injected into the bee on the
mouthparts of the mite. In NZ there is no varroa and no problem with KBV
which is widespread and endemic. The worry is that when the two are brought
together the effects will be similar to APV.
