Hi all

The issue of pesticide residues in food roughly parallels the issue of harmful radiation. There is a range of contaminants in our lives and they also range in degree of harmfulness. These are ubiquitous, but require our attention and we need to protect ourselves from excessive exposure.

The detection and evaluation of these chemicals and the risk they pose is a scientific enterprise. The techniques of detection and determination must be done by qualified scientists. The average person has no idea what the difference is between PPBs and PCBs and is suspicious of people that do.

A large number of people mistrust scientists and don't accept scientific principles. They are afraid of everything from vaccinations to pesticides but drive down the road staring at their cell phones and abuse alcohol and other drugs. Fact is, the role of science in our lives is pervasive, but the disrespect it gets is incomprehensible.

People apparently cannot or will not differentiate between unbiased science, propaganda and bald faced lies. So what are you going to do? The crusade for truth and freedom requires eternal effort, the tide of ignorance returns as regularly as the phases of the moon.
