              There's an older reference that might be of some use:
 
         Free, J.B. 1966.  The pollinating efficiency of honey-bee
         visits to apple flowers.  J. Hort. Sci. 41: 91-94.
 
              I don't have access to the journal, but it should be
         available at most major universities in the US.
