Amy,
   A very good source is Mark Winston's book, "The Biology
of the Honey Bee" (Chapter 9).  He does a thorough job
explaining it.  There are several great little tests that
you can perform at the undergrad level.  Welcome to the
list and good luck on your paper, hope ya get an 'A'.
