It is becoming clear that there is no established standard for determining varroa resistance, or a hygienic trait that demonstrates an aggressive response to varroa. Given that varroa are THE central pathogenic problem in US honey bees, is there a path to demonstrating and determining known anti-varroa traits that is reproducible for other beekeepers in developing a standard? What would be the parameters for determining this trait?
