I just was pointed to a long discussion of bees and pesticides, which you can view at

in it, they include this quote:

"We have a verifiable instance of direct application of Neonics and brood death. To give the Grower credit, he applied the product (a fungicide) at night. The next day, however, was a beautiful, warm day. Lots of bee action. All of the unsealed brood died and the colonies stayed broodless for several weeks. I am now seeing roughly 50% queenless in those colonies." -- Tom Haefeli, Colorado


I suspect the beekeeper is confused between Clothianidin and Chlorothalonil. The former is a neonicotinoid insecticide while the latter is a common fungicide, also known as Bravo. Fungicides may be a far greater threat to beekeeping but they are NOT formulated from neonicotinoids, which all the hollering is about. The point is, folks need to do their homework.
