I'd like to know how anyone figured out that the workers fed the queen
less? How does one make these observations? And, if somehow, say using a
colony in an observation hive, and watching it JUST before swarming - seems a
bit tricky to catch, how does one know whether they fed her less or she
wanted less?

Seems to me to be a difficult thing to quantify. Anyone have the original
paper at hand? Thanks

Jerry
