I did not say Dr. Seeley made that statement, but someone has labeled a summary of his ideas "A natural, non-treatment solution". Again, I repeat those observations are NOT a solution. Interpreting them as such could lead to catastrophe for the honey bee genome.

There is no need to risk that catastrophe (or endure the mite bomb phenomenon) as we have alternatives, particularly with genetic work promising much more than just rearguard actions: gene silencing is being use to control cattle tick infestations worldwide, and that tool could be adapted for Varroa control.
