Hello Everybody,
 
               A good friend of Mine(and also My Mentor)uses a heavy duty
variable speed drill to power His extractor.It is very simple to hook up and
the cost is very low compared to the alternatives.This would be a very
inexpensive solution for a hobbyist with just a few hives.
I am not very mechanical so I don't know how to explain it, but it should be
very easy to hook one up.good luck,
