At distances of 1, 30, 400, 1,300 and 1,500 m we placed two mite receiver colonies (MRC).

Surprisingly, in our experiment the number of introduced mites did not depend on the distance between the MDC and MRC. This may be due to the particular conditions on our training camp, where at the time of our experiment hardly any nectar or pollen sources were available. The only food sources for our colonies were therefore the other experimental colonies within the flight range. Under such conditions, distances between 1 and 1,500 m are obviously not a real limiting factor for foragers.
