The North American Section of the International Union for the Study of
Social Insects issues a call for travel proposals to attend the 11th
International Congress of IUSSI in Bangalore, India, on August 5-11,
1990.
ELIGIBILITY: U.S.citizens and landed immigrants (with a green card or
work visa) are eligible for all 50 of the grants we expect to award.
Twenty-five of those awards originate from Smithsonian Institution funds,
and those can be awarded regardless of citizenship or residence.
AWARDS: Round-trip airline tickets from JFK Airport to Bangalore, India.
Awardees must be prepared to arrange for their own transportation to New
York City. We may be awarded funds from NSF to partially defray domestic
travel to JFK, but this is by no means firm.

4) additional scientific activity planned in India or en route will
enhance the application
5) the committee will try to achieve some balance among the symposia,

possible
6) some special consideration will be given to "junior" applicants, i.e.,
students and those who have received the Ph.D. within the past 5 years
AWARD NOTIFICATION: The committee will complete reviews by March 1, 1990,
