>>>   If I am going to get any spring harvest I need to feed probably 50 pounds of sugar per hive over the next month to simply fill the second deep with some stores or most of my spring honey will go in that deep which is not harvested..    ..    .<><><>  If you do that, how do you know whether or not the bees later move some of that sugar honey from the upper deep on up into your honey supers?   Just wondering.   Personally I stain my sugar syrup so that I can tell if it is taken up into any of the honey supers.   Mentioned on the list before that I found out one hive was doing a pretty good job of robbing some of the other.  Hadn't fed it at all but it had about five frames in the bottom honey super that was partially filled with stained syrup.  Didn't extract those frames.  I use food coloring to color the syrup - red, blue, and green.
