A friend wrote to me off list, presumably to avoid embarrassing me. I welcome any such comments and corrections



Raised LDL cholesterol has definitively been shown to be associated with a variety of cardiovascular events, Pete, including acute MI, and statins have also been shown to reduce the risk of MI vs placebo in patients at risk. So, no. (google the 4S study and/or the pravastatin LIPID study, if you don't believe me, or just pull up the PI for Lipitor and go through section 14. P values are in the 0.001 range throughout)… I agree with your argument in principle, but this point is not a good one.
