I was wondering also. During winters of
severe cold, do breeds of bees maintaining
larger clusters fair better than breeds of bees
which typically winter in smaller clusters?
Is this information surveyed at all?

I spent last Sunday cleaning up deadouts. I can tell you that some cluster
I thought would have been fine were dead. I think the smaller cluster bees
pay the larger price myself, but very anecdotal.

Charles
